HIGH PERFORMANCE
PREMIER TRAINING CAMP
We believe elite goalies are technically sound, athletic, and posses a tenacious attitude.
The High Performance Training Camp experience is designed to educate, stimulate and motivate each participant with the tools required both on and off the ice to perform at your best, at the highest level. CGD and Dempsey Goaltending is a team of like minded coaches with experience at the Junior, OHL, CIS, NCAA, NHL, Hockey Canada Junior Training Camps, NHL Development Camps and Olympic Preperation Camps. We invite other elite coaches and professionals throughout the week to speak and shed insight on mental, physical and tactical elements of the position.
OFF ICE
We understand that to be a pro, you need to train like one. That means the off ice component of the HP camp will continue to be an oppurtunity to learn through educating you on your physical and mental makeup, strengths and needs. Including:
-
video game analyses.
-
mobility assessment
-
Physical assessment
-
Attential & Interpersonal Style report.
As coaches we have managed and attended camps that focused on dry land conditioning and activities that tired and inhibited goalies performance and ability to execute on ice. We have implemented a camp formula that calls for the physical demand focus be on-ice only! We do not provide off-ice conditioning as a component of our camps. The reason is simple. We’ve witnessed too many occasions where goalies were exhausted and uncomfortable, compromising their ability to learn and perform. We do however believe in intensive mobility work pre and post ice time which will be included daily.
Goaltenders will have the use of the University dressing rooms and may leave their equipment there for the duration of the camps. Laundry services will be provided so goalies that wish to have fresh undergarments each day should bring their own laundry (“gitch”) bag. Lunch will be provided at the University cafeteria where there is a large variety of healthy options to choose from.
ON ICE
The on ice component is structured to focus on technical movements and execution in game situations. The focus is tactical and mindful. Every demand and drill has a purpose and reason from efficiently tracking the puck into and out of every save to pre shot body positioning to multiple save situations. Having coaching experience worldwide at many levels allows us to thrive on being on the cusp of new techniques and tactics.
Each group will consist of 18 goalies. On-ice sessions will consist of an hour and a half in the morning and another hour and a half in the afternoon. Shooters are OHL, University and CCHL calibre.Typical day begins at 8am and is comlpete at 4pm.
